Urban Sprawl: Back Again...
According to my professor of Environment and Society, the average number of children per American household is decreasing. Yet, as the Americans continue to sprawl out of the suburbs, their houses are continuing to getting larger. This concept continues to baffle me. It doesn’t make sense for houses to get bigger while families are having fewer children. It’s a waste of money and resources. Houses are using more and more energy as their size increases and the number of people living in the house decreases. Once again, this situation is an effect of urban sprawl.

That's interesting to think about. I didn't know that the average number of children per household was decreasing. That could explain why there is an increase in the size of the house. Adults are spending more money on themselves and not making a family. Having more children costs more money, therefore, adults wouldn't have enough money to spend on themselves. If adults are building these big houses they should at least take the time to make it environmentally friendly. After all, it will help save the environment and it will help them save money in the future.
ReplyDeleteWhere in the world did you find out that the number of kids in each household is decreasing?..Haha it is an odd stat to keep up with. People getting larger houses doesn't make any sense either, what are people thinking these days? This is definitely an effect of "urban sprawl" and needs to be stopped for good reason. I'm gonna do my best to get that stat of kids per household increased..hah jk...maybe
